Managing Partner Nicolas Audier Speaks at a WeWork Webinar on the EVFTA

The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) was implemented on the 1st of August. In less than two months this deal has generated significant interest from across the European Union, with companies eager to understand and unlock the new opportunities it brings in Vietnam’s fast-growing market.

Now the agreement has entered into force, however, business leaders on both sides are grappling with the thornier and more complicated issues of import tariff schedules, technical barriers to trade, and market access for investment.

To discuss these and other technical questions regarding the EVFTA, A&P’s Managing Partner Nicolas Audier was last week invited to speak at a WeWork webinar alongside other thought-leaders from the business and legal fields. Titled “Vietnam and the EU: Unlocking Full Potentials”, the event was a deep-dive into the detail of this historic agreement with a focus on how enterprises can take advantage of its ambitious and far-reaching provisions.

Mr Audier and the other panellists discussed each of the 17 chapters of the EVFTA, with the conversation ranging from anti-trust and mergers to investment protection and from trade remedies to dispute settlement. The webinar also covered the sectors and industries which will benefit from the EVFTA, as well as some of the challenges in its implementation.

Those who missed the event can read more about the EVFTA and what it means for business in Nicolas’ recent article for the Vietnam Business Forum magazine. And A&P Senior Associate Cristophe Cougnaud and Associate Nguyen Thi Huong Giang have also written a detailed breakdown of the agreement on our website.
